Senior Estimator - Work From Home

We are seeking a Senior Estimator to support the estimating and QS process. The role involves reviewing drawings and tender documentation, measuring quantities, building trade packages, issuing packages to subcontractors and suppliers, collating returned quotes, and supporting tender analysis.

Core Responsibilities

Tender Review & Measurement

Review tender information, including:

• Architectural drawings
• Engineer drawings
• Landscape drawings
• M&E drawings
• Specifications
• Bills of quantities
• Schedules of works

Work from varying levels of tender detail, including:

• Full bills of quantities with measurements
• Schedules of works without quantities
• Drawings and specifications only
• Measure drawings digitally and extract relevant quantities
• Demonstrate strong measurement ability, a key requirement of the role

Package Build-Up

Break projects down into trade packages, including:

• Groundworks, masonry, windows, M&E
• Painting/decorating, carpentry, roofing
• Cladding, rendering, boarding
• Polished concrete, waterproofing, piling
• Demolition and enabling works
• Allocate measured items to the correct trade packages
• Prepare packages for issue to the appropriate supply chain contacts

Supplier & Subcontractor Coordination

• Issue packages to suppliers and subcontractors
• Follow up with the supply chain for pricing
• Receive and organise returned quotes
• Communicate with suppliers/subcontractors via Teams or phone when required

Quote Comparison & Tender Analysis

Build comparison documents across multiple subcontractor quotes

Compare scope allowances and identify:

• Provisional sums
• Omissions
• Scope differences

Assess pricing, including identifying the most competitive and suitable suppliers

Support decision-making on which prices to carry forward into the tender

Excel & Tender Document Preparation

• Transfer client documents into internal Excel spreadsheets
• Assist in building the Tender Sum Analysis (TSA) document
• Collate pricing into the master document
• Support document preparation tasks, including data input and formatting
• Assist in populating overheads, profit, risk factors, prelims, and tender structures as instructed

QS Support on Live Projects

• Provide support to the QS team during quieter estimating periods
• Maintain flexibility to assist across live projects as needed

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience as an Estimator/Quantity Surveyor
• Experience handling UK, ideally bespoke building projects.
• Strong ability to read and understand construction drawings.
• Strong ability to measure from drawings / perform take-offs.
• Ability to break tender information into relevant trade packages.
• Ability to work with bills of quantities, schedules of works, drawings, and specifications.
• Comfortable working in Excel and collating tender/pricing information.
• Able to support quote comparison and identify inclusions, omissions, and provisional sums.
• Construction-related qualification preferred / expected.
• Experience with estimating tools such as Kreo, Bluebeam and Planswift
