Job description

I am seeking a dynamic and commercially driven Sales Manager to lead the strategic growth and operational excellence of an Equipment Sales business.

This senior leadership role is responsible for driving sales performance, profitability, customer engagement, and team development while ensuring alignment with company objectives and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement divisional business strategies aligned with company and Group objectives.
  • Drive sales growth, profitability, and market expansion initiatives.
  • Lead the Sales Division’s operational and commercial activities to achieve annual targets and KPIs.

Sales & Commercial Management

  • Oversee the full sales lifecycle including customer acquisition, opportunity management, negotiations, quotations, and order conversions.
  • Lead and mentor the Sales Team to identify customer needs, create demand, and deliver tailored solutions.
  • Monitor sales pipeline performance including opportunity conversion rates, sales cycles, and revenue forecasting.
  • Review and approve quotations, tenders, and commercial terms in line with company policies and delegated authority levels.

Market & Customer Development

  • Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify growth opportunities and emerging trends.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, suppliers, and principals.
  • Support and participate in trade shows, seminars, and marketing initiatives to enhance brand visibility and customer engagement.

Operational & Financial Oversight

  • Manage departmental budgets and ensure effective cost control.
  • Monitor accounts receivable and collaborate with Finance to ensure timely collections.
  • Review inventory and stock utilization strategies to improve operational efficiency.
  • Ensure accurate CRM utilization and reporting across the Sales Team.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching, feedback, and development plans.
  • Identify training needs and support continuous professional development within the team.
  • Promote compliance with company policies, quality standards, and operational procedures.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in senior sales leadership within equipment sales, industrial products, material handling, engineering, or related sectors.
  • Strong commercial acumen with demonstrated success in achieving sales and profitability targets.
  • Experience leading high-performing sales teams and managing large customer portfolios.
  • Excellent negotiation, relationship-building, and strategic planning skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems and sales performance analytics.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
