Application Engineer - Workday Payroll

Our client, a global technology-enabled organization, is seeking an experienced Application Engineer – Workday Payroll to support the configuration, integration, enhancement, and operational support of Workday solutions.

This role focuses on Workday Payroll and related HCM modules, supporting both project-based initiatives and day-to-day application operations. The successful candidate will collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to deliver scalable solutions, maintain system stability, and support continuous improvement initiatives across enterprise platforms.

𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀
The Application Engineer will provide subject matter expertise in Workday Payroll and related modules such as Benefits, Compensation, Talent Management, Absence Management, Time Tracking, Integration, Security, and Data Conversion. The role is responsible for supporting the software development lifecycle, including application configuration, deployment, enhancement, troubleshooting, and ongoing support activities.

The position involves configuring and integrating enterprise applications with internal systems and supporting enhancements, debugging, and optimization efforts to improve functionality and performance. The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders to gather requirements, translate business needs into technical solutions, and contribute to the delivery of fit-for-purpose applications.

The role also includes participating in Agile and DevOps delivery environments, supporting incident resolution, monitoring interfaces and data loads, administering security access, and identifying opportunities for process or system improvements. Strong collaboration with development teams and proactive communication during project work and production support activities are essential.

In addition, the Application Engineer will develop and maintain technical documentation, contribute to operational stability, and support compliance requirements related to enterprise systems and software platforms.

𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 & 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲
The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with Workday Payroll and related Workday technologies, including areas such as advanced reporting, integrations, enterprise interface tools, web services, and data conversion processes. Experience supporting one or more Workday modules—including Core HCM, Benefits, Compensation, Talent, Absence, Time Tracking, Integration, or Security—is highly valued.

Candidates should possess a solid understanding of software engineering principles and experience supporting enterprise applications within Agile delivery environments such as SAFe, Scrum, or Kanban. Experience with ServiceNow HR Service Delivery or similar workflow and case management platforms is advantageous.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. The role requires a self-driven individual who can manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing business needs, and work effectively under pressure with minimal supervision.

Experience or familiarity with technologies such as SQL, Java, Python, C#, Angular, Node.js, Azure, REST/SOAP services, or related web technologies is considered an advantage. Knowledge of scripting, automation workflows, and low-code development platforms is also beneficial.
