This role is based in Manila. After the first 3 months of on-site setup, the role will move to a hybrid work arrangement.

The Opportunity

Arup is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer (Grade 6) to join our Buildings team in Manila, supporting the delivery of hyperscale and complex data centre projects across the Philippines and wider APAC region. This role will act as a senior technical, project, and people leader.

You will be leading multidisciplinary MEPF design from concept through to commissioning. The position plays a critical part in ensuring engineering excellence, regulatory compliance, and alignment with client requirements for capacity, resilience, scalability, and performance.

The role is based in Manila office.

In conjunction with the Building Services team leadership in the Group, the job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Develop a team that effectively wins and undertakes projects across the SIT / Data Center market
• Assist section leader on Business Development.
• Supervise/prepare proposals/submissions and negotiate contracts within the SMEPF team’s framework for such activity. Authors proposal on small to medium range projects
• Acts as a Project Leader on assigned projects.
• Undertake multiple design discipline such as Mechanical, Electrical, ELV, Fire Protection and Plumbing/Drainage design for complex and hyperscale Data Center projects in a design manager role.
• Supervises group of Engineers in the accomplishments of their respective tasks.

Is this role right for you?

• At least a Professional Mechanical Engineer (PME), ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer (ACPE) or has acquired Chartership or equivalent strongly preferred.
• 10+ years of technical and mechanical design experience, with 5+ years dedicated to Data Centers (hyperscale/colo/enterprise).
• Has recognised professional institutions i.e. PSME, ASHRAE, NFPA, Uptime Institute certification, ANSI/TIA-942 certification, ISO 5001, etc.) or can demonstrate the equivalent level of professional level of professional knowledge experience and skill.
• Has project management and business development experience. Must be able to maintain and develop successful client relationships creating new business opportunities and must be a team player.
• Highly experience in multiple building design related to MEPF system primarily in thermal or cooling load analysis, energy modelling, CFD, sustainability and with extensive knowledge of different soft wares both technical and project management skills is essentials.
• Be able to demonstrate strong design ability and engineering solutions on hyperscale Data Center critical and complex projects.
• Excellent interpersonal skills across all levels, both internally and externally to Arup
• Demonstrate good all-round hands-on design/supervisory experience.
• Familiar with international and local design standards and codes such as: (i.e. Philippine Codes, US standards, BS, JIS, etc.)
