Job description

Joining Arup

Arup’s purpose, shared values and collaborative approach have set us apart for 80 years, guiding how we shape a better world

As a Transport Planner, you will have a day-to-day coordination role and work with the Manila team and other teams including Southeast Asia and East Asia teams, with periodic travel to other SEA project locations possible.

The Opportunity

  • Undertaking concept planning, assessment, and design of transport infrastructure (including roads, buses, and rail), alongside contributing to development master plans.
  • Supporting visioning, strategy development, policy evaluation, and the preparation of action plans for transport master plans at local, regional, and national levels.
  • Conducting public transport assessments, developing service and operating plans, and carrying out traffic impact analyses (TIA) for proposed developments, including circulation and accessibility schemes.
  • Contributing to studies on future transport trends such as zero-emission and digital transport, while also managing and planning public transport, traffic, pedestrian, and infrastructure surveys.
  • Liaising directly with clients, ensuring high-quality deliverables through quality control of team inputs, and supporting the development of proposals with developers and local government units (LGUs).
  • Contributing to regional bids and proposals for international development banks and government clients, representing the team in internal engagements, and collaborating closely with colleagues to meet project deadlines.

At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive. Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas.

You will have the opportunity do socially useful work that has meaning – to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.

Is this role right for you?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Transport Planning, Transport Engineering, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, or a related field; a Master’s in Transport Planning or similar is preferred.
  • 5–7 years of relevant experience in traffic and transport planning, including public transport and multi-modal planning, traffic analysis, TOD, policy assessment, design, and surveys.
  • Proficiency in GIS (basic to moderate) and familiarity with transport modelling tools such as Cube, Vissim, EMME, Synchro, or similar.
  • Strong technical capabilities, including moderate to advanced Excel skills; experience in VBA, Python, or other automation tools is an advantage.
  • Excellent communication, writing, presentation, and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in English and Tagalog, and willingness to undertake domestic and occasional international travel.
