Design Operations & Space Planning Specialis

Role Overview

We are seeking a talented and highly organized Remote Interior Designer / Space Planning & Materials Specialist to design beautiful, functional residential spaces from concept through order-ready details.

This role is ideal for someone who possesses a strong design eye, excellent space-planning skills, and the meticulous organization needed to turn creative ideas into clear layouts, finish selections, product lists, and material schedules. You will help design bedrooms, bathrooms, bar areas, and other residential spaces from scratch, as well as help complete existing design concepts.

Key Responsibilities

• Spatial Design: Design residential spaces (bedrooms, bathrooms, bars, etc.) from scratch, ensuring layouts are attractive, functional, properly scaled, and practical.
• Sourcing & Selection: Select furniture, tile, paint, lighting, plumbing fixtures, mirrors, hardware, rugs, décor, and accessories.
• Concept Execution: Complete existing design concepts and transform them into clear, executable selections.
• Technical Review: Review room dimensions, floor plans, elevations, photos, and product specifications.
• Documentation & Logistics: Prepare organized product lists (with links, dimensions, finishes, and pricing), finish/material schedules, and detailed order sheets.
• Quantity Estimation: Help estimate preliminary material quantities for tile, backsplash, countertops, flooring, wallcovering, trim, and paint.
• Risk Mitigation: Flag missing measurements, unclear details, or items requiring contractor, installer, fabricator, plumber, or electrician verification prior to ordering.
• Proactive Communication: Clearly communicate when a design choice may not work due to size, clearance, material, installation, budget, or functionality constraints.

Qualifications

• Experience: Proven experience designing residential interiors, with a strong emphasis on bedrooms, bathrooms, and bar areas.
• Technical Layout Skills: Strong space-planning abilities and a solid understanding of bathroom/bar design basics (clearances, vanity sizing, mirror/lighting placement, tile layouts, and cabinetry).
• Design Aesthetic: Excellent judgment regarding color, proportion, materials, lighting, texture, and style coordination.
• Detail Orientation: High attention to detail regarding measurements, quantities, finishes, product options, hyperlinks, and documentation.
• Communication: Clear communication and exceptional project organization skills.
• Industry Experience: Background working directly with interior designers, builders, contractors, architects, or e-design clients.
• Visual Presentation: Experience creating mood boards, finish boards, FF&E schedules, or client presentations.
• Sourcing Network: Familiarity sourcing from retail websites, trade vendors, furniture brands, and specialty tile/plumbing suppliers.
• Software Proficiency: Experience with AutoCAD, SketchUp, Bluebeam, Canva, PowerPoint, Google Slides, or Adobe Illustrator.
• Construction Literacy: Basic knowledge of cabinetry, millwork, countertop materials, tile installation, and remote design support workflows
