Job Overview

We are looking for a Senior WordPress Developer (SEO Strategy Experience Preferred) to join our in-house marketing team. This senior-level, full-time, office-based role is primarily focused on WordPress development (75–80%), with SEO strategy and technical SEO (20–25%) to support scalable, high-performing websites. You will work on large Australian multi-location service business websites, building fast, SEO-optimized solutions while diagnosing technical issues, improving performance, and contributing strategic ideas that enhance user experience, search visibility, and long-term business growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, optimize, and scale WordPress websites, templates, layouts, and page structures.
  
• Improve website speed, responsiveness, Core Web Vitals, performance, caching, plugin configurations, and integrations.
  
• Troubleshoot website bugs, server-related issues, and manage staging and deployment environments while ensuring clean, efficient, and scalable code.
  
• Audit existing websites, diagnose technical and structural issues, identify root causes, determine whether websites should be repaired or rebuilt, and provide well-supported recommendations with minimal SEO impact.
  
• Develop websites with SEO best practices, including site architecture, indexation, internal linking, schema markup, crawlability, and page hierarchy.
  
• Collaborate with the marketing team to support website rebuilds, migrations, technical SEO improvements, and scalable SEO strategies.
  
• Contribute proactive ideas to improve website performance, SEO rankings, traffic, user experience, conversion rates, scalability, and overall system efficiency while clearly explaining the reasoning behind development decisions.
  

Requirements

Qualifications

• Minimum 4+ years of WordPress/Web Development experience.
  
• Minimum 2+ years of SEO experience, preferably Technical SEO.
  
• Strong proficiency in PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and WordPress themes, templates, and plugins.
  
• Experience optimizing website speed, performance, and Core Web Vitals.
  
• Working knowledge of Google Search Console, Google Analytics 4 (GA4), and Screaming Frog.
  
• Strong understanding of SEO fundamentals, including schema markup, internal linking, crawlability, site hierarchy, and indexation strategies.
  
• Excellent English communication, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills with a proactive, solutions-driven mindset.
  
• Bonus: Experience with service-based industries (Appliance Repair, HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Locksmith, Roofing), GenerateBlocks, Elementor, website rebuilds, migrations, high-page-count websites, SEO automation or AI tools, UI/UX principles, and mentoring junior developers.
