Senior Data & Business Intelligence Specialist

We are looking for a Senior Data & Business Intelligence Specialist who can turn spreadsheets, APIs, and slightly overconfident business requests into something useful, reliable, and mildly impressive.

This role suits someone who combines strong software engineering fundamentals with modern data engineering expertise. You may have started out as a Software Engineer before moving into Data Engineering, which means you know your way around code, cloud platforms, and the sort of production-ready solutions that do not fall over the moment someone opens Power BI on a Monday morning.

You will also need to be comfortable across adjacent technologies, including AI, application development, and automation, because business needs rarely stay in their lane and frankly, neither do we.

What you will be doing

• Design, build, and maintain modern enterprise data warehouses and lakehouse solutions.
• Develop scalable, reliable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes.
• Build reporting, dashboards, and BI solutions that business teams actually want to use.
• Work with stakeholders to understand reporting and analytics requirements.
• Design robust data models that support operational and strategic decision-making.
• Ensure data quality, governance, security, and performance across data platforms.
• Develop integrations between business systems and data platforms.
• Contribute to application development projects using modern web frameworks or low-code platforms.
• Participate in solution design, code reviews, and Agile delivery practices.
• Continuously improve data architecture, automation, and reporting capabilities.

Requirements

What you will bring

• Strong commercial experience as a Data Engineer, Data Specialist, or Data Platform Engineer delivering enterprise data solutions.
• Advanced Python, SQL, and PySpark skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Databricks, or Snowflake.
• Strong experience in data warehousing, dimensional modelling, and BI-focused data modelling.
• Hands-on experience building batch and streaming data pipelines.
• Good understanding of medallion architectures, including Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers.
• Experience working with external APIs to ingest, synchronise, and integrate data.
• Strong knowledge of data governance, security, access controls, compliance, and quality management.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services, including Azure AI Foundry.
• Experience with cloud-native data solutions, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code.
• Experience building or supporting Power BI semantic models and reporting solutions.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Experience working in Agile teams and in consulting or client-facing environments.

Nice to have

• Domain experience in finance, ERP, SAP, or other complex business systems.
• Experience with AWS or another cloud platform alongside Azure.
• Experience building AI-enabled applications, including vector databases, RAG, and AI agents.
• Experience integrating AI agents with enterprise systems via APIs, Microsoft Teams, or other business platforms.
• Experience with Microsoft Power Platform.
• Experience developing business applications using .NET/C#, Python, Laravel, or similar modern frameworks.
