Job title: Draftsman/Estimator

Shift Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:00 AM-5:00 PM EST

A detail-oriented drafting and estimating role responsible for preparing permit-ready construction drawings, plan sets, estimates, material takeoffs, and project documentation. This role requires strong AutoCAD and Bluebeam Revu experience, Florida construction knowledge, and the ability to coordinate effectively with architects, engineers, municipalities, inspectors, and internal project teams.

Objective of this role:

• Prepare accurate, permit-ready construction drawings and plan sets that support smooth project approvals and execution
• Develop detailed estimates, scopes of work, and material takeoffs to support pricing, planning, and project decisions
• Coordinate efficiently with architects, engineers, municipalities, inspectors, and internal teams to keep projects moving through permitting and plan review
• Maintain strong document control so drawings, revisions, approvals, estimates, and supporting files remain organized and current
• Help reduce project delays by ensuring plans, estimates, and permit documents are accurate, complete, and aligned with Florida requirements

Responsibilities:

• Prepare construction drawings, plan sets, and permit-ready documents using AutoCAD

• Review and interpret architectural, structural, MEP, and civil plans

• Update drawings based on markups, revisions, engineering feedback, municipal comments, and project requirements

• Perform material takeoffs from construction documents and plan sets

• Develop estimates and scope breakdowns for construction and roofing-related projects

• Review drawings and documents for scope gaps, conflicts, or missing information

• Coordinate with architects, engineers, designers, municipalities, inspectors, and internal team members
• Track plan revisions, engineering updates, permit comments, correction requests, and resubmittal requirements
• Support Florida permitting processes by preparing, organizing, and submitting permit-ready construction documents

• Use Bluebeam Revu for plan review, markups, measurements, and document coordination

• Maintain organized project files, drawing sets, estimates, permits, revisions, approvals, and supporting documents
• Provide cross-department support to project management, estimating, permitting, and operations teams as needed

Required skills and qualifications:

• Strong experience preparing construction drawings, plan sets, and permit-ready documents

• Proficiency with:

  • AutoCAD (required)

  • Bluebeam Revu (required)

  • Microsoft Office (required)

• Experience reading and interpreting architectural, structural, MEP, and civil plans

• Knowledge of Florida Building Code and Florida permitting processes

• Experience with material takeoffs, cost estimating, and scope development

• Ability to coordinate with architects, engineers, municipalities, inspectors, and internal teams

• Strong attention to detail, organization, and document control

• Clear communication skills and ability to manage multiple project priorities

• Industry experience is required

Preferred skills and qualifications

• Experience working for a general contractor, construction firm, roofing contractor, design-build company, or permitting-focused team
• Experience producing permit-ready construction documents for Florida residential and/or commercial projects
• Familiarity with municipal plan review workflows, correction responses, and inspection coordination

• Experience supporting both drafting and estimating functions in a construction environment

• Ability to identify plan conflicts, missing scope items, and cost-impacting details early
