Chief Auto Mechanic Electrician

Job Summary

The Chief Auto Mechanic is responsible for overseeing all vehicle maintenance and repair operations within the organization. This role ensures that all automotive work is performed efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards. The Chief Auto Mechanic leads a team of technicians, manages workflow, diagnoses complex mechanical issues, and ensures compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily activities of automotive technicians and mechanics

• Diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues in a wide range of vehicles

• Oversee preventive maintenance programs to ensure vehicle reliability and longevity

• Ensure all repairs and maintenance tasks meet quality and safety standards

• Manage workshop operations, including scheduling, workflow, and resource allocation

• Inspect completed work to ensure accuracy and compliance with specifications

• Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and spare parts

• Train, mentor, and evaluate staff performance

• Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations

• Liaise with vendors and suppliers for parts procurement and service support

• Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance schedules, and costs

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (Technical or vocational training in automotive technology preferred)

• Certification in automotive repair (e.g., ASE or equivalent) is an advantage

• Minimum of 7–10 years of experience in automotive repair, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role

• Strong knowledge of vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems

• Experience with diagnostic tools and computerized repair systems
