About this role
The Data Scientist on Insight's AI Development team applies analytical and machine learning expertise to solve business problems across the enterprise. While Insight's AI strategy is primarily centered on building applications with hyperscaler models (Azure AI Foundry), there are opportunities to develop custom models for forecasting, classification, and optimization — as well as to support model evaluation, fine-tuning, and performance analysis for LLM-based applications. You will work across diverse domains (finance, HR, operations, ecommerce) wherever data-driven intelligence can drive impact.
What you’ll do in this role
- Develop and validate machine learning models (regression, classification, time-series forecasting) to solve enterprise business problems using Databricks and Python.
- Support AI Developers with model evaluation, fine-tuning experiments, and performance benchmarking for LLM-based applications.
- Perform exploratory data analysis using PySpark and SQL to uncover insights, validate hypotheses, and inform product decisions.
- Design and manage features using the Databricks Feature Store; ensure consistency and reusability across projects.
- Champion MLOps best practices using MLflow for experiment tracking, model versioning, and registry management.
- Communicate findings and model performance clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Data Engineers, AI Developers, and Product Owners to productionize models and integrate data science outputs into AI applications.
What we’re looking for
- Experience:Minimum 3 years of experience as a Data Scientist with a portfolio of completed projects.
- Programming:Expert proficiency in Python with core data science libraries (Pandas, scikit-learn, NumPy).
- Data Platform:Hands-on experience with Databricks, including PySpark, MLflow, and Databricks Workflows.
- SQL:Strong SQL skills for data exploration and feature engineering.
- ML Fundamentals:Solid understanding of machine learning algorithms, model evaluation, and statistical methods.
- Communication:Excellent written and verbal English communication skills; ability to present technical findings to diverse audiences.
- Collaboration:Comfortable working in Agile teams alongside engineers and product stakeholders.
- Nice to Have:Experience with LLM evaluation/fine-tuning; familiarity with PowerBI; background in a quantitative field (CS, Statistics, Mathematics).
