SAP BI Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced SAP BI Engineer to support and enhance enterprise analytics and reporting platforms built on SAP BusinessObjects (BO) and SAP BW/4HANA.

This role combines BI development, production support, platform maintenance, and technical leadership. You will be responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and continuous improvement of enterprise reporting solutions while collaborating with data engineering teams supporting modern analytics platforms such as Databricks.

The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience in SAP BusinessObjects and SAP BW/4HANA, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues, guide technical initiatives, and support critical business reporting environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain SAP BusinessObjects (WebI) reports and reporting solutions.
• Design and maintain Universes using Information Design Tool (IDT).
• Develop and support SAP BW/4HANA data models, ADSOs, Composite Providers, and BW Queries.
• Troubleshoot reporting, data extraction, transformation, and data quality issues.
• Support SAP BusinessObjects platform administration using Central Management Console (CMC).
• Monitor BI platform performance, report schedules, and data loads.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement sustainable solutions for production issues.
• Design and maintain analytics data models using dimensional modeling and star schema principles.
• Coordinate transports and deployments using SAP ChaRM processes.
• Collaborate with Databricks and data engineering teams to support integrated reporting solutions.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and support runbooks.
• Mentor team members and contribute to technical discussions, solution reviews, and best practices.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on reporting performance, automation, and platform reliability.

Required Skills & Experience

SAP BusinessObjects

• Strong experience with SAP BusinessObjects 4.3
• Hands-on experience developing Web Intelligence (WebI) reports
• Experience designing and maintaining Universes using Information Design Tool (IDT)
• Experience with Central Management Console (CMC) administration

SAP BW/4HANA

• Strong experience with SAP BW/4HANA data modeling
• Experience developing and maintaining:
  • ADSOs
  • Composite Providers
  • BW Queries
• Experience using BW Modeling Tools in Eclipse

Data & Analytics

• Strong SQL skills
• Experience with dimensional data modeling and star schema design
• Experience supporting enterprise BI reporting environments
• Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem-solving skills

Change & Release Management

• Experience working with SAP ChaRM
• Experience managing transports across Development, QA, and Production environments

Leadership & Support

• Experience mentoring engineers or leading technical initiatives
• Experience supporting production BI environments and critical reporting platforms

Preferred Qualifications

• Analysis for Office (AFO)
• SAP BusinessObjects Data Services (BODS)
• Exposure to Databricks or Spark-based analytics platforms
• Experience integrating SAP data with modern analytics platforms
• Experience supporting large-scale enterprise reporting environments
