Head of Accounting
The Head of Accounting is responsible for overseeing the company’s accounting operations, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and timely completion of financial statements. The role includes supervising the accounting team, managing general ledger activities, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders for audits, budgeting, and financial analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded, classified, and documented.
- Oversee the preparation of tax returns and ensure compliance with all tax regulations.
- Coordinate with external auditors and manage audit processes.
Accounting Operations
Supervise day-to-day accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.Review and reconcile balance sheet and bank accounts regularly.Manage fixed assets accounting, depreciation schedules, and inventory accounting.Internal Controls & Process Improvement
Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets.Develop, document, and improve accounting policies, systems, and procedures.Ensure adherence to company accounting policies and financial controls.Budgeting & Analysis
Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.Provide financial analysis and insights to support management decision-making.Monitor budget variances and recommend corrective actions.Lead, mentor, and train accounting staff.Ensure a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement within the accounting team.Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in AccountancyProfessional certification such as CPA, CMA (preferred but not required).5-7 years of progressively responsible accounting experience, including at least 2–3 years in a supervisory or senior role.Strong knowledge of accounting principles, tax laws, and financial regulations.Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, or equivalent) and MS Excel.Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.Integrity and ability to handle confidential information.Strategic thinking with a hands‑on approach.Leadership and team management skills.Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities.Willing to start ASAP!
