Job Summary

KDCI Outsourcing is seeking an experienced CAD Drafter to develop accurate drawings designs and project documentation for engineering projects. The role involves civil and/or electrical drafting design calculations layouts as-built documentation and technical reporting using CAD systems such as AutoCAD and/or MicroStation. The ideal candidate has strong technical drafting skills attention to detail and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering and project delivery teams to meet project and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Design & Delivery

• Perform design calculations and drafting tasks for various projects ensuring accuracy and adherence to technical specifications.

• Prepare detailed layouts sections and arrangements based on design requirements and project specifications.

• Assist in preparing cost estimates and design computations to support engineering tasks.

• Prepare reports maps drawings and plans required for the successful execution of projects.

• Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software such as AutoCAD and/or MicroStation to create detailed drawings and design documentation.

• Maintain expertise in CAD tools and apply them to deliver the appropriate level of detail for assignments.

• Conduct field surveys and inspections to collect accurate data for design activities quality control and change management.

• Produce as-built design documentation based on field data and observations.

• Undertake other duties as directed commensurate with skills and classification.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Collaborate with the engineering team to ensure documentation supports effective project coordination and delivery.

• Work closely with the broader delivery team to maintain alignment between design documentation and project goals.

• Communicate with project and delivery teams to ensure the accuracy and clarity of plans drawings and technical documentation.

Team Support & Engagement

• Provide high-level drafting support to project and engineering teams.

• Participate in team activities and attend staff meetings as scheduled.

• Demonstrate a supportive approach to colleagues and contribute to a collaborative friendly and effective working environment.

• Provide regular and timely feedback on work activities to relevant team members.

Job requirements

Job Requirements

Must Have

• Bachelors degree or Diploma in Engineering Certificate IV in Drafting or an equivalent qualification (or currently working towards one).

• At least 3 years of Civil Design and/or electrical drafting experience.

• Hands-on experience using CAD systems such as AutoCAD MicroStation or equivalent drafting software.

• Familiarity with civil design codes regulations industry best practices and performance standards.

• Ability to prepare detailed layouts sections arrangements drawings plans and other technical documentation.

• Ability to interpret technical specifications and translate engineering requirements into accurate drawings and designs.

• Experience producing as-built drawings and documentation is preferred.

• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.

• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and high-quality technical documentation.

• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet project deadlines.

• Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with engineering and project delivery teams.

• Current Class C drivers license.

• Ability and willingness to travel when required.

Nice to Have

• Experience working in the engineering industry is an advantage.
