General Accounting Officer

You're the person who helps keep the company's finances accurate, organized, and running smoothly behind the scenes. You make sure our financial records are complete and reliable, so leaders can make informed business decisions, and teams can focus on delivering great work to our clients. By ensuring transactions are properly recorded, reports are timely, and controls are followed, you help protect the company's resources and support its growth. Think of it as turning financial data into trust, accountability, and business confidence.

• The General Accounting Officer is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the company's financial records and supporting the Controller in ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting. The role oversees day-to-day accounting activities, prepares journal entries, performs account reconciliations, assists in month-end and year-end closing processes, and ensures compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies.

Responsibilities – How will you do this?

Financial Reporting & Accounting Operations

• Assist in preparing the trial balance, monthly financial statements, and other applicable management reports.
• Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
• Monitor asset additions, disposals, transfers, and impairments.
• Help conduct periodic physical asset verification activities.
• Assist the Controller in executing monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities and prepare the appropriate closing entries.
• Regularly monitor the company’s balance sheet, income, and cash flow statements, and investigate any significant variances that may be discovered.
• Prepare other reports and analyses as may be needed by the Controller or the CFO.

General Ledger Management

• Prepare and record journal entries accurately and on a timely basis.
• Analyze transactions and recommend appropriate accounting treatments in compliance with applicable accounting standards and company policies
• Resolve discrepancies proactively and recommend corrective actions to improve data accuracy

Reconciliation & Internal Controls

• Perform regular reconciliations of bank accounts, intercompany accounts, and balance sheet schedules to ensure financial accuracy and completeness
• Strengthen internal controls by identifying risks, monitoring compliance, and recommending process improvements
• Coordinate with the conglomerate’s various internal audit units to help satisfy internal policie

Tax, Compliance, & Regulatory Reporting

• Prepare and file the various tax, statutory, and regulatory reports in a timely manner
• Support overall audit readiness by maintaining organized documentation and ensuring transactions are properly substantiated
• Monitor compliance with accounting standards, government regulations, and internal policies to minimize operating risks
• Ensure proper retention of accounting and financial documents and filings.

Audit Support

• Prepare schedules and supporting documents for internal and external audits.
• Coordinate and respond to auditor requests and information requirements.
• Assist in implementing audit recommendations and corrective actions.

Business Partnership & Stakeholder Support

• Collaborate with Finance, HR, Procurement, and other various teams to ensure all transactions are properly recorded and supported
• Provide timely financial information and guidance that enable stakeholders to make sound operational and business decisions
• Build strong working relationships across the organization to promote accountability and financial discipline

Process Improvement & Operational Excellence

• Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, improve efficiency, and enhance reporting accuracy
• Leverage technology, automation, and best practices to reduce manual work and strengthen financial controls
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives that support scalability, compliance, and operational effectiveness

To be successful, you’ll need

• Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Accounting Technology, Finance, or a related business discipline
• CPA designation is an advantage, but not required, particularly for candidates with strong general accounting experience
• Demonstrates strong accounting fundamentals and applies sound judgment in recording, analyzing, and reporting financial transactions accurately
• Maintains exceptional attention to detail by identifying discrepancies, resolving issues proactively, and ensuring the integrity of financial records
• Demonstrates working knowledge of Philippine Financial Reporting Standards (PFRS), taxation, statutory requirements, and internal controls
• Translates financial data into actionable insights that support business decisions, financial planning, and operational improvements
• Collaborates effectively across teams to gather information, resolve concerns, and ensure financial processes run smoothly
• Able to leverage ERP systems, accounting software, and advanced Excel skills to improve efficiency, accuracy, and reporting capabilities
• Takes ownership of results with integrity and accountability, proactively solving problems and ensuring reliable financial support to the business
• Strong attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
