Cost Accountant

About the Role

The Cost Accountant is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and controlling the company’s costs to ensure accurate product or service costing and support profitability analysis. This role involves collecting cost data, preparing cost reports, analyzing variances, and assisting management in decision-making related to budgeting, pricing, and cost control.

The position works closely with Production, Procurement, and Finance teams to maintain accurate cost records, implement cost-saving measures, and ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of cost accounting principles are essential.

Responsibilities

• Collect, record, and analyze cost data for products, services, and projects.
• Prepare standard costs and maintain cost accounting records.
• Analyze variances between actual and standard costs, and report findings to management.
• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and cost control initiatives.
• Monitor production and operational costs to identify areas for efficiency and savings.
• Reconcile cost accounts with general ledger and financial statements.
• Support pricing decisions by providing accurate cost information.
• Prepare cost reports, summaries, and performance analysis for management review.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and internal controls.
• Collaborate with Production, Procurement, and Finance teams to maintain accurate and timely cost records.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Finance, Business Management, or any related field
• At least 2–4 years of experience in cost accounting or general accounting
