Overview

It is at the heart of the Android ecosystem, providing the apps, games, and digital content services that bring Android devices to life. The Play store serves over a billion users in 150+ markets and is a critical driver of client’s overall revenue growth. The Global Merchandising Team owns content programming within the Play Store across all regions and verticals (Apps, Games, etc).

As a Games Writer, you will help the Games Editorial team create and program editorial content on the store, globally. You’re a whizz with words, taking feedback positively and working collaboratively towards unified goals. You’re comfortable following up with people if details aren’t clear, and you have excellent attention to detail, aligning everything to our tone and style guides and placing the user first.

This is a vendor role with Highspring for a client’s team, a Fortune 100 company. This position is currently remote until further notice.

You’ll enjoy talking about and playing mobile games as each week you’ll be searching for and testing the most interesting games on Play. Using your strong knowledge of the medium, you’ll dissect and assess titles, accurately explaining what makes them special and reporting this back to the team. You’ll be able to articulate these thoughts clearly, concisely, and credibly to an audience with varying knowledge of the subject.

You’re familiar with using Google Workspace, comfortable navigating your way around custom content management systems, and enjoy juggling information from multiple sources to ensure the content you produce is accurate and timely. You’re comfortable following up with individuals if details aren’t clear and, as no two weeks are ever the same in our team, you’re more than happy to roll up your sleeves and help out wherever the team needs it most.

Responsibilities

· Research and test games for quality across various Android devices (phone, tablet, Wear)

· Write long- and short-form copy about games, including but not limited to Store banners and articles

· Uphold and enforce our existing editorial program guidelines and voice

· Work closely with our team of Content Strategists/Editors to help syndicate and scale our content

· Program editorial content using internal publishing system as needed

Minimum Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communication, Literature, Business,

· Marketing, a related field, or equivalent practical experience

· 3+ years of professional writing experience with strong editorial skills (copywriting, journalism, marketing, UX writing, or related)

· Strong English language writing and communication skills with an ability to write for specific audiences in British and/or American English

· A collaborative approach to working

· Interest in mobile games and games in general

· Confidence in articulating positives and negatives of game design and interactions

· Excellent attention to detail and ability to hit deadlines

· Familiarity with using style guides

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience with Google Workspace (namely Docs and Sheets)

· Experience using content management systems

· Knowledge of video games and the games industry

· Comfortable using new and unfamiliar tools

Schedule Requirements

· Monday to Friday, standard business hours (some London crossover)
