To lead the commercial development and maturation of organic growth opportunities across upstream, midstream, downstream and adjacent energy businesses, from early-stage opportunity through investment readiness.
The role is responsible for developing the commercial proposition and integrated business case for assigned opportunities, bringing together technical, market, commercial, financial and execution considerations to determine whether and how an opportunity can create value for Prime Energy.
Given the technically intensive nature of organic energy opportunities, the role requires a strong technical foundation and sufficient commercial capability to synthesize multidisciplinary technical work into business and investment implications, while working with relevant technical specialists as the subject-matter authorities.

Develop business models, value propositions and commercialization strategies.
Lead market, customer, competitor and value-chain assessments.

Establish the key questions and uncertainties that must be resolved to determine whether an opportunity should progress.
Develop integrated, fit-for-purpose workplans across technical, commercial, market, regulatory, financial and execution workstreams.

Ensure maturation activities remain proportionate to the opportunity and focused on information material to the investment decision.
Commercial & Business Model Development
Develop and evaluate business models, value propositions and commercialization strategies for organic opportunities.
Assess market size, customer demand, competition, pricing and alternative routes to market.
Evaluate alternative revenue models, commercial structures and value-chain positions.
Develop customer, partner, supplier, offtake and other commercial strategies as applicable.
Lead or support commercial discussions with prospective customers, partners and counterparties.
Develop and negotiate commercial principles, term sheets, MOUs and other early-stage commercial arrangements.

Synthesize technical work into commercial and investment implications, including impacts on scale, production/capacity, CAPEX, OPEX, schedule, revenue potential, risk and returns.
Understand and challenge the key assumptions underpinning technical concepts sufficiently to identify matters material to the business case.
Compare alternative technical/development concepts from an integrated technical-commercial and economic perspective.
Identify technical uncertainties with the potential to materially change the attractiveness or configuration of an opportunity.
Ensure technical work commissioned for opportunity maturation is linked to a defined business or investment decision.
Clearly distinguish what is known, assumed and uncertain in the technical basis used for the business case.
Integrated Business Case & Investment Evaluation
Lead development of integrated business cases for assigned organic opportunities.
Establish key commercial, technical and execution assumptions in collaboration with relevant subject-matter experts.

Support transition of approved opportunities to execution/project teams while preserving the underlying business case and commercial intent.
Perform other business-development responsibilities assigned by the Head of GNV.
Special Challenges/Complexity Unique to the Job:
Organic energy opportunities are often technically complex and commercially undefined at inception, requiring the incumbent to convert technical possibilities into viable business propositions.
The role spans upstream, midstream and downstream, each involving different technical, commercial and value drivers.
Must possess sufficient technical understanding to integrate and challenge multidisciplinary technical inputs while recognizing that accountability for technical assurance remains with the relevant subject-matter experts.
Must translate complex technical findings into their implications for commercial structure, economics, capital requirements, risk and investment decisions.
Must develop business cases despite significant uncertainty in early-stage assumptions around resource, technology, development concept, cost, schedule and market.
Requires balancing entrepreneurial opportunity development with disciplined capital allocation and willingness to stop opportunities that do not create sufficient value.
Must determine the appropriate level of maturation before further expenditure is justified, avoiding both premature investment and unnecessary analysis.
Requires leadership across multidisciplinary teams whose members generally do not report directly to the role.
