Role Overview
We are seeking an n8n Tech Lead to drive the technical evolution of a global workflow automation platform. This role sits at the intersection of engineering leadership and deep automation architecture.
You’ll design scalable systems, mentor engineers, and define the technical roadmap for workflow automation — ensuring reliability, performance, and innovation at every layer. This is not a traditional people management role, but one where you lead through code, architecture, and technical influence .

- Mentor engineers, establish technical standards, and elevate engineering quality across the team.

- Champion security, observability, and system performance to deliver 99.9%+ uptime automation systems.
Core Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Architecture – 25%
- Define and evolve the architecture for the n8n automation platform.
- Set and maintain the technical roadmap for workflow automation and integrations.
- Lead design reviews for advanced orchestrations and multi-system logic.
- Establish best practices for automation engineering, code quality, and documentation.
- Research and deploy new technologies that extend automation capabilities.
Team Technical Guidance – 20%
- Conduct code reviews and mentor engineers on automation architecture.
- Lead workshops and pair-programming sessions to scale team capability.
- Champion reusable node development and workflow optimization standards.
- Onboard new engineers and foster a culture of technical excellence.
Advanced Workflow Development – 25%
- Design and build sophisticated multi-system workflows and reusable frameworks.
- Develop custom nodes using TypeScript / JavaScript.
- Optimize performance, scalability, and fault-tolerance across high-volume automations.
- Lead proof-of-concepts (POCs) for emerging automation opportunities.
Platform Engineering & Infrastructure – 20%
- Oversee the scalability and reliability of n8n infrastructure.
- Implement CI / CD pipelines, monitoring, and observability frameworks.
- Define and enforce security standards for API usage and credential management.
- Maintain system uptime and performance benchmarks across enterprise workloads.
Cross-functional Technical Leadership – 10%
- Partner with leadership and product teams to translate business needs into automation architecture.
- Communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ensure documentation and process clarity across teams.
Requirements
Must-Have (Required) :
- 4+ years of experience with n8n or similar workflow automation platforms.
- Advanced proficiency in JavaScript / TypeScript and Node.js .
- Proven experience designing multi-system orchestrations and reusable components.
- Deep understanding of custom node development , API integrations , and webhooks .
- Infrastructure experience with AWS / Azure / GCP , Docker , and CI / CD pipelines .
- Hands-on experience with monitoring tools (Grafana, DataDog, Prometheus).
- Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and documentation skills.
Nice-to-Have (Preferred) :
- Open-source contributions to n8n or related frameworks.
- Experience with Zapier, Make, Temporal, or Airflow .
- Strong understanding of enterprise SaaS integrations (Salesforce, SAP, NetSuite, etc.).
- Certifications in AWS, Kubernetes, or DevOps infrastructure.
- Prior experience in SaaS, real estate tech, or enterprise automation systems.
