The Back Room is hiring a Client Accounting Services Manager for a US-based accounting firm. This role is approximately 30% managerial and 70% hands-on accounting , overseeing client deliverables and accounting staff.
What You'll Do
Daily
- Daily awareness and tracking of deadlines in Asana as they relate to projects and monthly residuals.
- Review reports.
- Maintain overall responsibility for client communications.
- Be available for troubleshooting and questions from accounting staff.
- Deliver project work which cannot be delegated to staff.
- Provide updates to Owner as needed.
- Maintain personal email inbox with a 24-hour response time.
- Check client email inboxes 2–3 times daily, maintaining a 24-hour response time.
- Follow company processes and protocols.
Weekly
Meet with Owner to review new projects, existing client updates, and staff updates.Pay bills for clients.Follow up with clients who have not responded on project inquiries.Cover staff who are absent for time-sensitive responsibilities (payroll, 401K deposits, cash flow management).Evaluate project deadlines.Bi-Weekly
Meet with accounting staff to manage ongoing deadlines as they relate to monthly closing and project updates.Assist with or run client payroll.Monthly
Review all reports related to monthly closing process.Ensure accuracy of all client reports.Ensure staff meets monthly deadlines and processes are followed.Review internal accounting and staff processes.Annually
Oversee 1099 process, review reports, hold meetings with clients, collaborate with client CPAs on questions related to client reports, and overall responsibility for Y / E J / Es.Eligibility :

Requirements
What We're Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance.5–8 years related experience managing staff and multiple client deliverables concurrently.Strong accounting experience with financial report review and month-end closing background.Expertise in QuickBooks Online (10+ years) and related software.Experience functioning as a company finance or accounting team leader or manager.Ability to clearly and effectively present information and respond to questions in English.Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite – Advanced Excel capabilities, QuickBooks Online and Desktop, Bill.com, software integrations with QBO.Strong critical thinking skills, ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and supervise staff.Benefits
