Job description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following :

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ability to accept, reject or modify new and renewal business for workers’ compensation insurance programs as needed while working with senior underwriters or management, to ensure a profitable book of business.
  • Price business according to company underwriting and pricing guidelines and ensures standards for timeliness are met.
  • Develop on-going relationships with internal and external customers and monitor profitability and quality of submissions, and keeps up-to-date with underwriting and / or product changes.
  • Review and become familiar with : policy coverages, agency relationships, underwriting and team guidelines, processes, and procedures, company business strategy and organization.
  • Work with the division partner risk management staff to enhance knowledge and experience in : underwriting techniques and decision making methods, problem solving methods, sales and negotiating skills.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Computer skills required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents.
  • Ability to type routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively and respectfully with all contacts.
  • Ability to perform basic math and compute rate, ratio, and percentages.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in all forms.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving fixed variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to work under direction.
  • Strong work ethic required.
  • High level English
  • Education & Experience

  • High School diploma acceptable, some college preferred.
  • 3-5+ years' experience in Underwriting.
  • Physical Read Only
