Role description :

Overall leadership of Discipline team of professional staff located across multiple GEC locations ensuring growth of capabilities and capacity to meet business demands, and delivery of high-quality

project outcomes. Appreciating and working with different cultures to provide holistic leadership which helps to accelerate growth of people, performance sustainably.

Accountabilities :

  • Provide professional leadership in their discipline at a senior management level.

Formulate and Implement plan as per GEC strategy to meet business need, which includes harnessing talent from teams across all GEC locations to drive standardisation and digital innovation

  • Establish and consolidate relationships with senior staff in BA offices, taking ownership for the delivery of the GECs technical capability, supporting the delivery of tasks or specialized
  • components of projects

  • Plan and drive the development of Arcadis capability and capacity in the discipline to meet project demands, working with Talent Acquisition and Learning Development to ensure business
  • needs can be met in advance.

  • Work with BA Managers and others to develop a deep understanding of Operations processes in the BAs and identify opportunities to remove potential blockers and challenges in leveraging
  • the GEC model

  • Create high performing, global GEC teams in this discipline. Own and drive a culture of project delivery excellence within the discipline, ensure processes are in place for right first time
  • delivery, and adequate talent is available and assigned to lead on project delivery from a technical and task management perspective.

  • Instill a culture of feedback; empower GEC staff to share feedback with BA colleagues and emphasize everyones individual contribution to improving Arcadis GEC model.
  • Ensure the delivery of projects / tasks within the team is in accordance with Management Systems to meet time, quality, budgetary and health and safety targets
  • Engage with the senior leadership at GBA and BA level, and champion the involvement and inclusion of GEC capability in their delivery model using SOPs to standardize the delivery approach.
  • Communicate change and manage transformation within the team, aligned to the strategic direction of the company and GECs.
  • Develop and implement workforce plans regarding building capability and capacity of the teams over the medium to long term in consultation with GEC BA Business Partners, Workforce
  • Planners, Service Delivery Managers and GEC Director (Places / Mobility / Resilience).
  • Manage day to day workload within the teams to ensure that direct and indirect hour targets are achieved, working in close collaboration with the Workforce Planner.

  • Work with Service Delivery Managers to define and implement standardization and automation initiatives within the Discipline teams.
  • Ensure a strong focus on career development, driving a culture of best practice around GPS and empowerment of staff to own the development of their careers.
  • Foster a strong culture of health and safety awareness and practices within the teams, setting a leadership example and holding senior staff to account.
  • Manage staff engagement levels and attrition by drawing insights from tools such as YourVoice, identifying engagement drivers and developing and implementing action plans to ensure a well
  • engaged team.

  • Accountable for delivery of key operational metrics within discipline such as hourly and cost billability, management of software usage, overtime and other relevant metrics associated with
  • Discipline teams.

  • Manage team shape and size within the discipline to ensure that adequate levels of seniority for leadership, task management and technical roles are in place to support current and future
  • delivery requirements.

  • Create and drive the development of GBA teams (flexible pool staff), aligned with guiding principles and targets agreed with GEC Director Resilience.
  • Liaise with BA stakeholders to create demand for GBA teams and grow them consistent
  • Knowledge and Experience :

    Candidate to have Project and Program Management or Cost and Commercial Management background

    Solid experience and track record of managing Projects, Programs or Portfolios from inception to completion

    Experience with Project Controls, Project Management Office (PMO) would be of benefit

    Experience with developing or enabling digital solutions in your discipline would be ideal

    Demonstrable experience of process improvement and change management skills

    Successfully managed a multidisciplinary team in the construction / engineering sector.

    Experience of working across cultures, with teams based in multiple locations

    Ensuring key business metrics in business department are monitored and followed

    Experience in preparing and implementing a business strategy for the team that aligns to overall business objectives

    Undertaken coaching / mentoring roles to develop and upskill team members

    Team motivation and helping towards psychological safety within the overall team

    Networking with colleagues / clients in other regions globally as well as regionally

    Business development experience for the discipline / department

    Aligning with service / discipline leads to develop capabilities and training requirements

    Facilitate and coordinate communities of practice in your discipline

    Able to communicate well with others at all levels with fluency in English

    Experience with managing people, good leadership skills and having the ability to motivate others

    Experience of building and developing high-performing teams, including succession planning

    Able to collaborate with others effectively, manage diverse backgrounds and problem solve

    Experience in building and managing internal and external client relationships at senior-management level, including the ability to act as a trusted advisor

    Cross-Functional Collaboration : Experience collaborating with various departments to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and align operational objectives with

    organizational goals. This includes collaboration with Global Service Leads emphasizing on customer-centric approach towards service excellence.

    Change Management : Ability to lead change initiatives, adapt to evolving business needs, and drive organizational transformation aligned with the global strategy.

    Qualifications & Experience :

    Have a BE / BSc Eng, BSc (Hons), Diploma in Project Management, Cost Management, Engineering or equivalent in a relevant discipline

    Ideally have achieved Chartered professional status / professional accreditation, or equivalent in disciplin
