Solution Design & Bid Manager
Main Responsibilities
Customer Engagement :
a. Customer Empathy : the Solution Design & Bid Manager needs to be able to build rapport and communicate effectively with individuals and groups of customers at all levels of seniority and influence to elicit an understanding of the customer's objectives, challenges, pain points and business requirements.
b. Solution Presentation : the Solution Design & Bid Manager needs to be able to present with authority and credibility to individual users and senior customers (up to C-level) a subset of the Airport IT Product Portfolio and demonstrate how these products address the customers' needs. This will include challenging the customer's requirements and convincing the customer of alternatives, influencing the decision making process, being perceived as a trusted advisor, etc.
c. Proposal Preparation : the Solution Design & Bid Manager develops and writes solution proposals to address customer requirements expressed within RFPs / RFIs.
d. Sustainable Solutions : the Solution Design & Bid Manager leverages the Amadeus Airport IT portfolio, and approved 3rd party vendor services, to define sustainable solutions to meet the customer's functional and commercial needs.
e. Transition to Implementation : The Solution Design & Bid Manager works with the Product and Delivery teams to ensure a smooth transition from the sales process to the implementation project.
f. Continuity of Customer Engagement : the Solution Design & Bid Manager remains engaged with the customer, Product and Delivery teams to ensure that the proposed solution is implemented as intended and only altered to meet evolving customer requirements through an agreed change management process.
Commercial and Business Case Development
a. Value analysis : the Solution Design & Bid Manager works with the Sales Manager to build and communicate a view on the key value elements the solution brings to the customer and quantifies them based on the customer profile.
b. Solution Pricing : the Solution Design & Bid Manager works with the Sales team to develop pricing (revenue model) for the proposed solution. The Solution Design & Bid Manager ensures that the Cost drivers within the solution are well understood by the Sales Manager to help drive successful and efficient negotiations. The Solution Design & Bid Manager prevents the product value from being eroded through refinement of pricing proposals.
c. Cost Model : The Solution Design & Bid Manager understands the full cost model associated with all elements of the opportunity (and its associated options) and works with all teams to identify the costs for all hardware & services for hardware, implementation & ongoing services including third party services. The SDBM creates and defines SOW's for third-party vendors to enable them to cost their work.
d. Business Case : The Solution Design & Bid Manager prepares the Opportunity business case to ensure all can gain a clear and unambiguous view on the cost and revenue drivers to support Bid / No-Bid decision making (working with Finance as needed).
e. Risk Management : the Solution Design & Bid Manager is responsible for detailing and documenting risks for all opportunities, determining the impact of risk on business, and suggesting proposed risk response strategies.
f. Continuity : the Solution Design & Bid Manager is responsible for ensuring for continuity between the business case, proposal and contract.
Leadership
a. Operational Management : The Solution Design & Bid Manager is a manager role that builds and leads matrixed bid teams.
b. Work Product Deliverables : The Solution Design & Bid Manager should proactively ensure that the Work Product Deliverables produced by their team are of appropriate quality and fit for their intended purpose.
c. Stakeholder Engagement : The Solution Design & Bid Manager facilitates stakeholder engagement between a number of stakeholder groups within Amadeus and Airport IT with divergent interests - including, but not limited to : Sales & Account Management, Delivery & Implementation, Airport Customer Services, Operations & Support, Product Management, Legal and Finance. The Solution Design & Bid Manager proactively manages the diversity of interests between these groups and proactively seeks assistance from senior leadership when appropriate.
