We are looking for a proactive and detail‑driven team member to support both estimating and engineering functions across civil construction projects. In this role, you will assist with quantity take‑offs, cost estimating, technical coordination, and general project support. You’ll work closely with project engineers, consultants, and site teams to help deliver high‑quality, well‑coordinated project outcomes.
- Complete detailed quantity take-offs for civil construction projects, with some commercial components.
- Interpret and analyse drawings, plans, specifications, and project documentation to determine scope and materials.
- Identify relevant specs, standards, and requirements across each project.
- Assist with drafting and issuing RFUs (Requests for Update) to consultants, clients, and subcontractors to clarify design and scope items.
- Prepare cost estimates, bills of quantities (BOQs), and tender submissions.
- Source and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotes, ensuring alignment with project requirements.
- Maintain an organised estimating workflow and support the team in staying on top of quote requests.
- Assist with value engineering options and alternative solutions where appropriate.
- Support tenders with methodology notes, preliminary programs, or clarifications as required. • Assist the project team with technical reviews, engineering documentation, and drawing checks.
- Support project engineers with preliminary engineering tasks, site data collection, and design coordination.
- Participate in project planning, procurement support, and document control where required. • Assist with preparing work packs, ITPs, minor design updates, and construction documentation.
- Liaise with internal site teams to resolve technical queries and support ongoing project delivery.
- Contribute to general project administration, reporting, and coordination tasks.
- Engage in continuous improvement activities to support efficiencies across estimating and engineering workflows.
- Other roles specific duties as they arise.
Requirements
- Experience as an Estimator in civil construction, commercial construction, or infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency with industry tools such as: » Bluebeam, PlanSwift, CostX, or similar take-off software » MS Excel / estimating spreadsheets » Project management systems.
- Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or similar (preferred but not essential).
- Relevant industry training or certifications are an advantage.
- Strong capability in quantity take-offs, drawing interpretation, and reviewing technical documentation.
- Understanding of civil construction methods, industry standards, and common materials.
- Experience preparing cost estimates, tenders, and BOQs.
- Ability to draft and manage RFUs and technical clarifications.
- Exposure to supporting engineering or project delivery teams is highly advantageous.
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Ability to work across different functions and balance both estimating and project support tasks.
- Strong communication skills and ability to liaise confidently with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
- Proactive, organised, and comfortable working in a dynamic project environment.
