We are seeking a Structural Engineer to join our client's team, specialising in cold-formed steel structures for residential and light commercial projects. In this role, you will review and approve engineering drawings, perform stress analysis, ensure compliance with Australian building codes, and collaborate closely with internal teams. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a high volume of diverse projects while applying your technical expertise to ensure quality, safety, and innovation.
- Review and approve engineering drawings prepared by the sales or drafting team for patios, garages, and custom-designed sheds (approx. 300 projects / month).
- Conduct structural assessments and verify compliance with relevant building codes and engineering standards.
- Perform stress and load analysis using internal tools and proprietary engineering software.
- Customise framing designs based on client or project-specific requirements, ensuring practicality and structural integrity.
- Collaborate closely with the internal sales, design, and drafting teams to provide technical guidance and engineering input.
- Maintain high accuracy and quality control across all engineering documentation and approvals.
- Stay informed about updates to building codes, industry trends, and materials relevant to cold-formed steel construction.
- Provide support for the development and optimisation of in-house software used for engineering review and approval processes.
- Other role-specific duties as they arise.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is a must.Minimum 4 years of experience as a Structural Engineer.Proven experience working with cold-formed steel structures, particularly in residential or light commercial applications.Familiarity with designing and approving patios, garages, sheds, or similar structures.Proficiency with stress analysis tools and structural engineering software.Strong knowledge of Australian building codes and standards relating to steel framing systems.Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to manage a high volume of approvals accurately and efficiently.Strong communication and collaboration skills to liaise effectively with internal teams.Registration or eligibility for registration as a professional engineer is desirable.Must be willing to work full-time onsite at our Ortigas office (IBP Tower).Benefits
