Job Description
This is a remote position.
Work Schedule : Monday to Friday 8 : 00am to 5 : 00pm Sydney Time with 1 hour unpaid break.
We are seeking a Junior or Intermediate Electrical Estimator to support a growing team. This role will work closely with a Senior Estimator and will focus primarily on electrical estimating for commercial and occasional domestic construction projects in Australia. The ideal candidate has an electrical engineering background, experience in electrical or HVAC / mechanical estimating, and familiarity with SimPro and Ground Plan software.
This is a technical estimating position—not an administrative role—and requires strong attention to detail, accuracy, and experience working with Australian project standards and materials.
Core Role Objectives
Produce accurate and competitive electrical estimates for commercial and domestic projects.
Support the Senior Estimator by performing takeoffs, pricing, and supplier coordination.
Ensure all estimates comply with Australian project codes, materials, and construction requirements.
Contribute to tender accuracy and project success by providing high-quality, timely estimates.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Cost Preparation
Review electrical drawings, plans, and specifications.
Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for electrical components.
Prepare accurate estimates for labour, materials, and equipment.
Compile and validate pricing information.
Assist in developing Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and cost breakdowns.
Supplier Coordination
Send requests for quotes (RFQs) to suppliers.
Gather, compare, and evaluate supplier quotations.
Ensure pricing reflects current Australian standards and materials.
Tender & Proposal Support
Assist the Senior Estimator with preparing tender submissions.
Ensure all required documentation is complete and accurate.
Participate in design-and-construct tasks when electrical plans are not provided.
Technical & Project Support
Apply electrical engineering knowledge to ensure accuracy of estimates.
Collaborate with the Senior Estimator for project-specific clarifications.
Maintain organized records of estimates, quotes, and project documents.
Qualifications & Experience
Required :
Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Experience in electrical estimating, preferably on Australian projects.
Proficiency with SimPro and Ground Plan (or similar estimating / takeoff software).
Highly Advantageous :
Experience in HVAC / mechanical estimating.
Experience working with Australian suppliers, materials, and construction requirements.
Previous experience preparing estimates for commercial construction projects.
Nice to Have :
Experience in design-and-construct environments.
Experience supporting a Senior Estimator or project team.
Skills & Competencies
