The Head of Recruitment is a senior leadership role responsible for guiding the recruitment department across operational, tactical, and strategic dimensions. As part of the company’s leadership team, this individual translates business objectives into clear recruitment goals, performance metrics, and scalable practices.
This role blends hands-on support with high-level direction—providing direct guidance to recruiters on live roles while shaping the department for long-term, scalable success. A key priority is driving the transition to an AI-first recruitment model, using technology to enhance productivity, accuracy, and innovation.
Beyond operational excellence, the Head of Recruitment is an educator and coach—inspiring recruiters to grow as professionals and future leaders. This includes providing consistent 1 : 1 coaching, building structured upskilling programs, and creating an environment where the team learns, evolves, and performs at its best.
The successful candidate will combine the structured focus of a manager, the interpersonal finesse of a collaborator, and the inspirational presence of a values-driven leader. Responsibilities
- Actively participate in the company leadership team, attending weekly L10 meetings and contributing to overall company strategy.
- Collaborate with the founders and other department heads to define the strategy for the department. This includes setting half-year goals, defining departmental metrics, and managing recruitment budgets.
- Lead the Recruitment Leadership Team to foster a collaborative and vibrant leadership forum. Provide daily, hands-on guidance to Recruitment Pod Leads to ensure the team stays focused, aligned, and driven toward departmental targets.
- Act as an educator and coach for the recruitment team, providing 1 : 1 guidance and leading structured upskilling programs to develop both recruiters and emerging leaders.
Performance Oversight
Display relentlessness in driving the highest standards. Conduct regular quality assurance checks across the recruitment funnel and closely monitor team-wide and individual metrics to promote operational excellence.Directly oversee the hiring, onboarding, and integration of new recruiters to ensure they are set up for success.Drive talent development by advancing high performers, mentoring emerging leaders, and increasing retention through the Recruitment Pathways Program.Address underperformance through clear development plans or transition strategies, ensuring high standards are consistently upheld.Oversee the Recruitment Incentive Program and Quarterly Awards to ensure they effectively motivate and recognize top talent.Proactively identify department challenges, share insights with leadership, and lead the design and implementation of collaborative solutions.Drive the department’s technology strategy, optimizing existing tools and integrating AI solutions to enhance efficiency and impact.Collaborate with Business Operations to refine SOPs, improve data accuracy and visibility, and implement more effective reporting tools.Organize regular training sessions—delivered internally or through guest experts—to improve recruitment strategies and team soft skills.Lead the execution of bi-annual strategic projects aimed at achieving step-change improvements across the recruitment function.Results
Success in this role will be measured by the department’s ability to meet and exceed the performance targets for a given period. The following are considered key performance targets for the recruitment department :
Total Placements completed across all recruitment pods.Increase in Average Monthly Placements Per Recruitment , ensuring optimised productivity and workload for each recruiter.Reduction in Median time-to-close a role , reflecting speed and efficiency in delivery.Accurate Candidate Selection , aligning with clients needs and supporting long term tenure / success of a placement.Reduce Cancellation Rate of Roles, demonstrating strong alignment with client needs and effective candidate management.High Client Net Promoter Score (NPS) , indicating high satisfaction from clients and internal stakeholders.These outcomes reflect not just operational success, but also the leadership, systems, and culture cultivated by the Head of Recruitment. Achieving them will demonstrate that the department is scalable, resilient, and positioned as a strategic engine for company growth.
Requirements
Minimum 5 years of recruitment experience , ideally with exposure to global clients and diverse industries.At least 2 years in a leadership role managing other recruiters , with proven success in setting departmental goals and driving strategic outcomes.Demonstrated ability to shape recruitment strategy and translate business objectives into scalable team practices.Strong commercial awareness, with experience linking recruitment outcomes to client satisfaction, retention, and revenue growth .Track record of leading through change and innovation , ideally including the integration of new technologies or AI solutions.Excellent people leadership skills : capable of inspiring, coaching, and developing recruiters at all levels.Strong analytical mindset with the ability to monitor data, define meaningful metrics, and make evidence-based decisions.Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the presence to represent the department at the leadership table and with clients when needed.Compensation
