Job description :
Cost Estimating Engineer is responsible in quantity take-off and estimating of contract cost of new projects for bidding. He is also responsible in evaluating the direct cost estimates of acquired projects and its actual implementation cost requirements as to materials, labor and equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
1. Study the plans, specifications of particular application, and other contract requirements of projects that are for bidding.
2. Quantity take off of materials based on the given plans and bill of quantities of the projects that are for bidding.
3. Prepare detailed unit cost estimates or the detailed unit price analysis (DUPA) for projects that are for bidding.
4. Assist the Procurement Group in canvassing of the current prevailing prices of materials with respect to the project specific requirement, for use in detailed unit cost estimating.
5. Assist in preparing technical documents for projects that are for bidding.
6. Evaluate the direct cost estimates of newly acquired projects against the cost of actual implementation requirements as to materials, labor and equipment.
7. Assist in preparation of Project Implementation Program (PIP) documents of newly acquired project based on the Detailed Unit Price Analysis (DUPA).
8. Conduct inspection of project site prior to bidding for a more accurate and realistic cost estimate.
