Communication :
Act as the central point of contact, receiving calls and transmitting instructions and updates to drivers, emergency services, or technicians.
Coordination & Scheduling :
Schedule and direct personnel and vehicles, assign tasks or loads, and manage daily movements for efficient operations.
Route & Asset Management :
Develop and optimize routes using mapping software and GPS, monitor the location and status of mobile units, and track work progress.
Information Management :
Maintain accurate records of calls, dispatches, assignments, and customer requests.
Problem-Solving :
Adjust plans and routes in response to changing conditions, emergencies, or delays to ensure operations continue smoothly.
Key Skills and Qualifications
Communication :
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are crucial for interacting with field personnel and the public.
Multitasking :
The ability to manage multiple calls, tasks, and information streams simultaneously is essential.
Technical Proficiency :
Experience with computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems, multi-line communication systems, GPS, and other relevant software is necessary.
Geographic Knowledge :
Familiarity with local geography and the ability to quickly process mapping information is beneficial.
Calmness Under Pressure :
The capacity to remain calm, think critically, and make sound judgments in fast-paced or high-stress situations is vital, especially in emergency services.
Education :
A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required.
