The Tax Director leads the tax function for a diversified conglomerate, overseeing all domestic and international tax strategies, compliance, and risk management. This role is responsible for ensuring the company meets its tax obligations across multiple business segments while optimizing tax efficiency. The Tax Director provides strategic guidance to senior management on tax matters, supports major business decisions, and manages relationships with regulatory authorities and external advisors.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the conglomerate’s tax strategy across all business units, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, federal, and international tax laws, including corporate, indirect, transfer pricing, and payroll taxes.
- Lead tax planning for mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and restructuring initiatives.
- Advise senior management and business leaders on tax implications of strategic decisions and investment opportunities.
- Oversee preparation, review, and filing of all tax returns and related reports.
- Manage relationships with external tax advisors, consultants, and auditors.
- Represent the company in dealings with tax authorities and during audits or disputes.
- Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess their impact on the conglomerate’s operations.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing tax team across multiple geographies.
- Implement and maintain tax risk management frameworks, internal controls, and governance standards.
- Drive initiatives to optimize tax efficiency while ensuring compliance and ethical standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent required; advanced degree (MBA, Master’s in Taxation) preferred.Minimum 10–15 years of progressive tax experience, preferably in a multinational or diversified conglomerate environment, FMCG or Manufacturing.Strong knowledge of corporate, indirect, international, and transfer pricing taxation.Proven experience managing complex tax matters and multi-jurisdictional compliance.Exceptional leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills.Ability to influence senior leadership and provide actionable tax insights.Experience working with external auditors, regulatory authorities, and tax advisors.Strategic thinker with strong business acumen.Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.Leadership and people development capabilities.High ethical standards and integrity.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.Seniority Level
