The Network Administrator is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and securing the organization’s network infrastructure. This includes LAN, WAN, wireless, VPN, firewalls, and other network devices. The role ensures reliable connectivity, optimal performance, and network security across all systems and endpoints. The Network Administrator also provides technical expertise in troubleshooting, capacity planning, and implementing network solutions aligned with business requirements.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Install, configure, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
Monitor network performance, availability, and security to ensure maximum uptime.
Diagnose and resolve network issues, including connectivity, latency, and bandwidth problems.
Manage and configure VPNs, VLANs, subnets, and other network segmentation techniques.
Administer and enforce network security measures, including firewall rules, IDS / IPS, and access control policies.
Perform regular updates, firmware upgrades, and patch management for network devices.
Implement network monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify issues.
Collaborate with IT teams on server, cloud, and application integration into the network.
Document network diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
Provide user support for connectivity issues, remote access, and network-related requests.
Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity planning related to networking.
Tasks
Configure and maintain IP addressing schemes (DHCP, DNS).
Manage network cabling, topology, and structured wiring.
Set up and maintain secure wireless networks (Wi-Fi SSID, WPA2 / WPA3 encryption).
Create and manage firewall policies and ACLs.
Monitor bandwidth utilization and optimize traffic through QoS.
Conduct regular vulnerability scans and remediate network-related security risks.
Support VoIP and unified communications systems.
Generate network performance, capacity, and security reports.
Provide after-hours or on-call support as required for critical network issues.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
At least 3 years of experience in network administration or related roles.
Strong knowledge of TCP / IP, subnetting, DNS, DHCP, and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP).
Hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, or similar networking devices.
Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios, Wireshark).
Solid understanding of VPN technologies and secure remote access.
Knowledge of firewalls, intrusion detection / prevention systems, and network security best practices.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Must be willing to work onsite in Davao City.
Must be amenable to work schedule changes.
Preferred Requirements
Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, Fortinet NSE, or Juniper JNCIA.
Experience in managing cloud networking (AWS VPC, Azure Virtual Network, Google Cloud networking).
Familiarity with SD-WAN technologies and modern enterprise networking solutions.
Knowledge of VoIP systems, SIP, and QoS configurations.
Scripting and automation skills (Python, PowerShell, Ansible).
Experience with Zero Trust networking and NAC (Network Access Control).
Exposure to virtualization (VMware NSX) and container networking (Docker, Kubernetes).
