Delivery dispatcher is responsible for coordinating and optimizing delivery routes for drivers to ensure timely and efficient service. Key duties include planning routes, communicating with drivers via radio or phone, monitoring deliveries, and resolving any issues that arise, such as traffic delays.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
Driver communication : Act as the main point of contact for drivers, providing them with necessary information on orders, routes, and potential problems via phone, radio, or other messaging systems.
Delivery monitoring : Track the progress of deliveries in real-time to ensure they are on schedule and provide assistance or reroute drivers as necessary.
Customer service : Address customer inquiries, provide status updates, and handle complaints or last-minute changes to delivery schedules.
Record keeping : Maintain accurate logs of dispatched calls, driver routes, vehicle maintenance, and delivery times.
Problem-solving : Troubleshoot issues that arise on the road or with scheduling, and find solutions to keep deliveries on track.
Compliance : Ensure drivers and operations comply with all relevant transportation regulations and laws.
Administrative tasks : Handle administrative duties such as preparing dispatch documents, generating shipping manifests, and entering data into dispatch software.
