Key Responsibilities
Communication : Serving as the primary communication link between a central office and field units (drivers, emergency responders, service personnel).
Coordination & Scheduling : Assigning tasks, scheduling routes, and coordinating the movement of resources.
Information Relay : Receiving and recording calls, dispatching orders, and providing drivers with vital information, including traffic updates, route changes, and customer requirements.
Monitoring & Tracking : Using mapping and GPS systems to monitor the location and status of vehicles or field personnel.
Problem-Solving : Responding to urgent issues, resolving conflicts, and making real-time adjustments to routes or schedules as circumstances change.
Record-Keeping : Maintaining accurate records of calls, dispatches, and driver activities.
Common Tools and Skills
Communication Tools : Telephones, two-way radios, and computer systems.
Software : Mapping software, GPS tracking systems, and dispatching software.
Skills : Multitasking, prioritization, excellent communication, organization, and the ability to work under pressure.
