Job Summary :
- The Estimating Engineer is responsible for preparation of estimates (take-offs and unit cost), evaluation of tender documents, review of plans, evaluation of quotation and coordination with estimating team, operations and procurement.
Duties and Responsibilities :
1. To prepare competitive estimates and costing for Civil, Structural, Masonry and some Architectural trades for all types of structures.
Prepare quantity take-offDetermine procurement strategy & methodology.Derive material and labor unit costs.Prepare tender qualification.Collate estimates from other estimator.Prepare other necessary bid documents.Prepare indicative design and estimates using parametric / elemental costs for design and build projects2. To review plans and prepare necessary prerequisites before estimates.
Review plans and specificationsPrepare tender queriesConduct site visitsAttend pre-bid conferenceChecking and review of all necessary bid documents3. To assist in sourcing out suppliers (with Cost Specialist / Canvasser) and coordinate with them and attend to discussion with their proposal.
Source out and solicit suppliers and subcontractors’ proposal in coordination with procurement.Evaluate suppliers and subcontractors’ proposals.Coordinate and discuss technical concerns with subcon.4. To coordinate with CDCC stakeholders (operations and procurement) during evaluation and turnover of estimates for the awarded projects and ongoing estimates.
Evaluate and assess change order (if any)Coordinate with the operations team on the basis of cost.Turn-over proposal and estimates to operations.Reconcile with site engineer regarding take-off and price.Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, quantity surveying or similar related field.Possession of relevant professional certifications or licenses (e.g. PRC License Holder, TPICQS, etc.)At least 1 year experience in Quantity Surveying or Estimating.Knowledgeable in construction material estimates, costing and take-offs.Proficiency in QS or Estimating software (e.g. PlanSwift, CAD, Sketch-Up), MS 365 (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and other tools.Has an excellent verbal & written communication skills and decision-making skills.Has a good practical, logical mind, and methodical way of thinking.Possesses excellence in time management, is hardworking, adapts and responds quickly to changes in the environment and priorities, and demonstrates trust and integrity.Strong analytical skills for cost estimation and budgeting.Excellent communication skills for coordination with CM, design teams, and contractors.Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications for accurate cost assessment.Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated on cost management trends.Strong attention to detail and accuracy in cost-related tasks.Proactive and results-oriented mindset with strong organizational skills.Critical thinking and adaptability in managing project cost challenges.Effective team collaboration and communication to support CM teams and stakeholders.Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
