Chief Operations Officer (COO)
Our client, a global leader in shipping and logistics , is seeking a highly experienced Chief Operations Officer (COO) to lead and oversee its agency operations and logistics organization in the Philippines. This senior leadership position plays a pivotal role in ensuring operational excellence, efficiency, and safety across vessel, port, and logistics operations while driving strategic initiatives that align with global business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership and Control : Direct, coordinate, and supervise all operational activities across the agency, including vessel scheduling, port operations, and cargo logistics. Ensure seamless execution from ship dispatch to turnaround while driving continuous improvement.
Strategic Planning : Collaborate with executive management to define and execute long‑term operational strategies, optimize maritime routes, and strengthen logistics scalability and competitiveness.
Fleet and Vessel Management : Oversee fleet utilization, performance, and maintenance to ensure operational reliability, safety, and environmental compliance.
Port and Terminal Operations : Manage port calls, loading / unloading activities, and coordination with port authorities to ensure efficient terminal operations and reduced cargo dwell times.
End‑to‑End Logistics Oversight : Streamline logistics processes, eliminate bottlenecks, and optimize freight flow across the entire supply chain to enhance efficiency and service reliability.
Regulatory Compliance and Safety : Ensure full compliance with international maritime laws, conventions, and safety protocols, fostering a culture of safety and accountability.
Customer and Stakeholder Relations : Maintain excellent relationships with clients, shipping agents, port authorities, and key industry partners to uphold service excellence and operational integrity.
Budgeting and Cost Control : Develop and manage operational budgets, control costs, and identify opportunities for efficiency and profitability improvements.
People Leadership and Development : Lead, mentor, and develop diverse teams, fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
Risk and Performance Management : Identify and mitigate operational risks while ensuring performance metrics, reporting, and contingency plans are effectively executed.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field .
Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in shipping, maritime logistics, or supply chain management , with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or executive role overseeing operations and logistics.
Strong technical knowledge of vessel operations, international shipping regulations, port management, and logistics optimization .
Proven ability to manage multinational operations , lead diverse teams, and navigate complex regulatory and operational environments.
Demonstrated success in driving innovation, improving operational performance, and delivering strategic results.
Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.
