Job Description
The role of this position is to act as legal, compliance and governance officer provides expert leadership in ensuring organizational compliance with applicable laws, regulations, donor requirements, and internal governance policies. It ensures that the organization is up to date with all the licensing and reportorial requirements. This position shall provide legal services for the organization, including the provision of legal advice / legal opinions, representing the organization in administrative, quasi-judicial and judicial proceedings, preparation / review and processing of legal documents, perform legal research, liaising with regulatory agencies and other relevant entities and institutions, as well as assistance in corporate housekeeping and board requirements.
The role safeguards organizational integrity by overseeing compliance frameworks, supporting the Board and CEO on governance matters, and acting as Assistant Corporate Secretary, Data Protection Officer (DPO), and Fraud Focal Point .
This position ensures that the organization operates with the highest standards of legal, ethical, and governance practices, protecting its reputation and sustaining donor, government, and stakeholder trust.

Requirements
Strong knowledge of laws, regulations, and compliance frameworks relevant to corporations, including governance and data privacy. Proven ability in legal research, analysis, drafting, negotiation, and communication with high attention to detail. Skilled in applying legal principles across diverse statutory frameworks and compliance contexts. Strong planning, organizational, and multitasking skills; able to manage competing priorities under pressure. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). With added value from training or certification in compliance, governance, data protection, or fraud risk management. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; able to liaise effectively across cultures with credibility, tact, and diplomacy. Proactive in identifying issues, legal risks, and liabilities, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities under pressure while maintaining a calm, professional demeanor. Flexible and service-oriented, with the confidence to say “no” when needed and remain results-driven.
