Barista

Job Description

The Barista is a key member of the café team, responsible for preparing and serving a wide range of high-quality coffee, tea, and specialty beverages in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate should be passionate about coffee, customer-focused, and committed to maintaining a clean, welcoming, and efficient workspace. This role also includes supporting food preparation and service, as well as upholding exceptional hygiene and customer service standards always.

Key Responsibilities :

• Beverage Preparation :
• Prepare and serve coffee, espresso-based drinks, tea, and other specialty beverages according to company recipes and customer preferences.
• Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and other brewing equipment.
• Ensure consistency, quality, and presentation of all drinks.
• Customer Service :
• Greet customers warmly, answer questions about the menu, and make product recommendations.
• Take and process customer orders accurately and efficiently using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
• Handle cash, card, and mobile payments responsibly and issue receipts.
• Ensure customer satisfaction by addressing any concerns or special requests promptly and professionally.
• Food Service Support :
• Assist in the preparation and presentation of light meals, pastries, and snacks.
• Ensure food is stored, handled, and displayed according to safety regulations and brand standards.
• Cleanliness and Organization :
• Maintain a clean and organized workstation, including the counter, equipment, and seating areas.
• Follow daily cleaning checklists and contribute to overall store cleanliness.
• Ensure proper sanitation practices are followed in compliance with health and safety standards.
• Team Collaboration :
• Work cooperatively with fellow team members to ensure smooth operations during shifts.
• Participate in training sessions and staff meetings to stay informed of new products, procedures, and policies.
• Support team members by assisting with restocking, inventory, and opening / closing duties as needed.

1–2 years of proven experience as a barista in a café or restaurant setting Strong knowledge of coffee preparation, brewing methods, and café operations Excellent customer service and communication skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks Positive attitude, punctuality, and strong teamwork skills Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
