Engineering Head

Overview

The Engineering Head is responsible for overseeing the engineering department and leading the technical aspects of steel fabrication projects. The role involves managing a team of engineers and support groups, coordinating with other departments, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective engineering solutions that meet project requirements and industry standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Drive the vision, design, innovation and implementation of engineering projects, ensuring they align with the company’s overall strategy and goals, plan and execute the delivery of engineering projects, including scope management, risk assessment, and regular status reporting;
• Provide direction on the works of engineering operations that include project control engineering, structural design, detailing, project site operations, production, quality assurance / control and the support group comprising warehouse and logistics management, safety, and sales / billing;
• Establish and maintain quality assurance / control and standards to assure the quality and integrity of engineering deliverables and fabricated steel products, perform periodic inspections, audits, and reviews to verify compliance with quality requirements and identify opportunities for improvement;
• Evaluate and approve engineering designs and specifications for steel fabrication projects to assure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations governing structural and mechanical design, fabrication, and installation;
• Provide technical direction and support to engineering teams in the application of best practices and the use of relevant technologies to ensure that all engineering outputs meet the highest quality standards and comply with health, safety, environmental regulations, and labor standards;
• Oversee the end-to-end process of the steel fabrication projects to ensure that project scopes, budgets, schedules, and deliverables are according to project requirements and budgetary limits;
• Lead, mentor and impart technical know-how to key personnel of engineering operations and support group, managing day-to-day activities and collaborating with cross-functional teams, including project site operations, procurement, finance, and HR, to ensure that engineering efforts meet customer needs and business objectives;
• Determine manpower requirements and coordinate with HR the training, professional development, and retention of key engineering and support personnel to build a high-performing engineering team;
