About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to join our team on a remote basis. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional to support a growing consultancy that specialises in delivering comprehensive quantity surveying and cost management services to a diverse range of clients. The role offers flexible working hours and the chance to work on a variety of projects, including construction, civil, and residential.
What you’ll do
Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and forecasts for construction and civil engineering projects.
Manage tender processes, including reviewing inquiries, and preparing tender documents, and submitting bids.
Perform quantity take-offs and prepare Bills of Quantities in accordance with standard methods of measurement (e.g., NRM, SMM7, or CESMM).
Support preparing and submitting Final Accounts
Help / assist valuing work completed on-site and prepare interim and final accounts (this can be done remotely)
Help / assist preparing and submitting claims for variations, dayworks, and additional works.
Help / assist reviewing and negotiating contract terms, identify risks, and provide advice on mitigation strategies.
Support clients with project cost reporting, cash flow forecasting, and financial management.
Resolve disputes and address queries related to costs and claims.
Prepare schedules of rates and cost-plus proposals, as required
Ensure compliance with relevant contracts (e.g., JCT, NEC).
An understanding of NEC & JCT Contracts
What You Bring
A Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying and / or Civil Engineering, or a related field.
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in quantity surveying, preferably within a consultancy or contractor environment. (3 years still could be considered)
Proficiency in cost estimation software such as Bluebeam, WinS, & CostX, etc.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
Excellent skills in performing quantity take-offs and preparing Bills of Quantities to industry standards.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
The ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks under deadlines.
Professional membership with RICS or an equivalent organization (desirable but not mandatory).
