The Head of Engineering leads the technical execution of Globe’s AI Engineering strategy, overseeing the development, delivery, and operations of AI-driven backend systems, platforms, and reusable modules across multiple product lines. This role is responsible for driving engineering excellence, ensuring architectural cohesion, and cultivating a high-performance engineering culture. The ideal candidate combines deep technical leadership with strategic vision—balancing speed, scalability, and security—while mentoring cross-functional teams and interfacing with stakeholders to deliver impactful AI-powered products and platforms.
Responsibilities
- Technical Strategy & Execution : Define and execute the AI Engineering roadmap aligned with business and platform strategy. Oversee the architecture, design, and development of scalable AI services, APIs, and infrastructure. Apply modern engineering practices including DevOps, CI / CD, SRE, and IaC where available and collaboratively establish and evolve practices where gaps exist.
- Engineering Leadership : Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary engineering team (backend, cloud, AI, data, fullstack). Champion code quality, documentation, testing standards, and system reliability. Foster a growth-oriented engineering culture with knowledge-sharing, innovation, and technical excellence.
- Platform & Systems Architecture : Ensure architectural alignment across backend systems, AI workloads, and cloud infrastructure. Drive the adoption of reusable components, standard patterns, and platform scalability best practices. Oversee performance monitoring, capacity planning, and optimization of high-throughput systems.
- AI & Data System Integration : Collaborate with AI scientists, product teams, and architects to productionize models and pipelines. Ensure data infrastructure supports AI training, inference, and real-time use cases effectively. Champion observability, model governance, and ethical AI usage within engineering systems.
- Security, Compliance & Operations : Embed security-by-design principles in all engineering efforts. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) and internal governance policies. Drive incident response readiness, disaster recovery planning, and operational resilience. Strengthen AI governance by championing observability, model governance, and the use of ethical AI, aligning with company values and security standards.
- KPIs and Deliverables : Monitor engineering velocity and delivery cadence (sprint throughput, release frequency); platform / system uptime and operational reliability; model accuracy and alignment with business requirements; code quality, security audit scores, and reduction of technical debt; stakeholder and cross-functional team satisfaction.
- Key Deliverables : Unified Engineering Roadmap and Governance Framework; Scalable AI Platform Architecture and Component Library; High-performing, reliable backend and data systems powering AI models; Team Capability Growth & Mentorship Programs; Security, Observability, and Operational Runbooks.
Qualifications
Education : Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical fields (or equivalent experience).Experience : 10+ years of proven engineering experience with significant expertise in AI system architecture and design. Extensive experience building scalable, high-performance systems in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure).
