Job Purpose :
To lead the Application Engineering team in supporting the sales force by reviewing specifications, preparing technical proposals, sizing and selection, managing pre-sales presentations, and validating sales orders to ensure accurate and efficient order processing.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead and manage the Application Engineering team
- Supervise day-to-day activities of application engineers to ensure high-quality technical support to the sales team and customers
- Set clear goals, provide direction, and evaluate team performance to support professional development and operational excellence
- Ensure technical accuracy and compliance
- Oversee the review of customer specifications, equipment sizing, and selection to ensure proposals meet technical requirements
- Approve final proposals and documentation prior to client submission or sales order processing
- Coordinate cross-functionally with Sales, Operations, and Vendors
- Collaborate with the Sales team to strategize and respond to client inquiries, tenders, and technical clarifications
- Work with external suppliers and internal stakeholders to source accurate technical data, lead times, and pricing
- Drive continuous improvement and standardization
- Develop and implement standardized processes for proposal preparation, order validation, and documentation control
- Recommend tools, templates, and systems to streamline engineering operations and reduce turnaround times
- Provide high-level technical support and escalation handling
- Act as the technical escalation point for complex application issues, project challenges, and critical proposals
- Support pre-sales activities including advanced product presentations, technical briefings, and site visits when needed
- Ensure timely and accurate order validation
- Oversee sales order review to ensure all technical and commercial aspects are correct before release to operations or procurement
- Minimize rework and errors by instituting strong validation and approval checkpoints
- Mentor and train team members
- Identify skill gaps and provide coaching, technical training, and development opportunities to enhance team capability
- Promote a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and service orientation
- Monitor workload and performance metrics
- Track team productivity, workload distribution, and proposal timelines
- Ensure timely response to all sales support requests and maintain a high level of client satisfaction

- Contribute to product development feedback, market analysis, and innovation in engineering solutions
- Align technical support strategies with overall company sales and operational goals
Qualifications :
Licensed Mechanical or Electrical Engineer
At least 5 years of experience in applications engineering, technical support, or project engineering roles
Experience in leading or mentoring a technical team is required
Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office tools
Strong background in equipment sizing, proposal preparation, and technical presentations
Excellent communication, coordination, and leadership skills
Highly analytical, detail-oriented, and capable of working under pressure and deadlines
Must maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism
