Job Description :
Employment Contracts & Policies
All employees have a signed contract aligned with the Fair Work Act 2009.
Contracts specify classification and pay level under the relevant Award (e.g., Animal Care & Veterinary Services Award 2020).
All workplace policies (Code of Conduct, Leave, Bullying & Harassment, WHS) are up-to date and accessible.
Staff acknowledgements ('read & understood') are recorded for new or updated policies.
Privacy and confidentiality clauses are compliant with the Privacy Act 1988
Payroll & Leave Entitlements
Wages are paid correctly and on time (check against Award minimums and penalty rates).
Overtime, weekend, and public holiday loadings are correctly applied.
Annual leave, sick leave, and long-service leave accruals are accurate and visible in payslips.
Parental leave entitlements are communicated and documented as per Fair Work standards.
Payroll records are securely stored for at least 7 years.
Workplace Health & Safety (WHS)
WHS training completed for all new staff within first 4 weeks.
Annual refresher training delivered (animal handling, radiation safety, sharps disposal, manual handling).
Incident & injury register is maintained and reviewed monthly.
Emergency evacuation drills conducted at least twice per year.
Chemical registers (e.g., anaesthetic gases, cleaning products) are up-to-date with Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
Psychological safety and wellbeing initiatives documented (e.g., EAP program awareness).
Performance Reviews & Training
All staff have an annual performance review documented.
Nursing level frameworks and vet performance metrics (Surgery, Medicine, ECC, etc.) are applied consistently.
Specialist CPD (Continuing Professional Development) logged and tracked against registration board requirements.
Managers trained in Fair Work obligations (performance management, discipline, termination).
Records of mandatory CPD and in-house training sessions are kept in HR files.
Employee Relations
Disciplinary procedures follow the Fair Work best practice guide (written warnings, right to respond, documentation).
Termination letters are reviewed by HR / legal before issue.
Redundancy processes include proper consultation and payment of entitlements.
Grievance procedures documented and communicated to staff.
Record-Keeping & Reporting
Employment records kept for at least 7 years (contracts, payslips, leave, performance notes).
Fair Work Information Statement given to all new employees.
Superannuation contributions paid on time (quarterly or more frequently).
HR audit conducted annually (covering payroll, leave, WHS, and training)
Qualifications :
Graduate of Psychology, Human Resource Management, or any equivalent.
At least 3 years of experience in HR operations, with demonstrated expertise in benefits administration and employee relations.
Experience in a BPO set-up is a must.
Systems : Sharepoint, Outlook, MS Teams, Excel, Word, Powerpoint
Ability to multi-task and adhere to deadlines.
