Cost & Commercial Lead

JOB OVERVIEW Accountable for cost management on a construction project or program, including profit & management risk and governance.

Advises on appropriateness of various procurement routes.  THE ROLE Leading the delivery of key assignments and defined business areas, providing strategic direction and monitoring delivery aligned with the overall vision and objectives.   Directing the preparation of contract documents, warranties, bonds and licenses to achieve formal execution by appropriate parties.    Leading operations that are fiscally and ethically viable, influencing the achievement of business objectives that align with business and legislative compliance obligations.  Advises on appropriateness of various procurement routes.  Advises on administrative procedures necessary for the project.  Manages procurement process and reports on the outcome.   Accountable for overseeing a commercial team.   Responsible for cost and contract management in a timely manner.  Agrees variations and claims including final accounts.   Ensures CVR targets are met, and profitability of the project is achieved.  Develops relationships with clients and consultants with future work in mind.   THE INDIVIDUAL Sound knowledge of value engineering, life cycle costing, contract law and contractual frameworks relating to construction.   Ability to proactively identify costs associated with design changes, contract awards, construction activities and client charges, and present these to clients.  Management experience within large, diverse teams.    Experience in managing relationships with key senior stakeholders.    Knowledge of how carbon and sustainability considerations will shape the outlook of the projects you are working on.  Detailed knowledge in most forms of contract.  Knowledge of contractual frameworks relating to construction.  Sound knowledge and ability to undertake and advise on contract administration and contract management.  Capex & Opex Cost analysis / advice.  Strong numerical and time management skills.  Attention to detail and able to validate and check data and draw conclusions.
