Schedule :
- Mondays to Thursdays, 9 : 00 am to 2 : 00 pm, Sydney Time
- 20 hours per week
Purpose :
To support sound financial management practices through the maintenance of financial information by undertaking a range of shared accounting activities. The Accounting assistant will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data, supporting both operational and strategic business objectives.
Key Duties & Responsibilities :
Manage accounts payable for both domestic and international vendors.Manage accounts receivable and ensure timely follow-ups on outstanding balances.Perform bank and general ledger reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy.Conduct daily reconciliations including EFTPOS, cash deposits, AMEX credit cards, PayPal, and merchant fees.Handle allocation of eCommerce payment transactions.Process employee expense claims and ensure compliance with company policies.Enter and reconcile monthly credit card expenses, providing cardholder feedback for accurate allocation.Manage monthly intercompany transactions between AU / NZ entities.Calculate agent commissions accurately and on schedule.Collaborate with the finance team to identify and implement business process improvements.Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) :
Debtors’ ledger is up-to-date and cash collections are maximized within customer payment terms.Vendor accounts are reconciled against supplier statements; payments are made within agreed payment terms.Bank accounts reconcile accurately to the GL; any discrepancies are promptly reported to the Finance Manager.Cross-functional projects and deliverables are completed on time.Process improvements are identified and implemented efficiently.Consistent delivery of high-quality customer service and internal support.Requirements
Required Experience & Skills :
Demonstrated experience as an Assistant Accountant, Accounts Payable, or Accounts Receivable Officer.Experience in the apparel, fashion, or retail industry is highly preferred.Understanding of eCommerce and retail accounting processes.Proven ability to work at an operational level while understanding broader financial principles.Solid understanding of accounting concepts and basic taxation implications.Experience in finance system processing and reconciliations.Strong analytical and mathematical skills with high proficiency in Microsoft Excel.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Personal Qualities :
