Overview
The Head of Engineering is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring the maintenance, safety, and operational efficiency of SHG’s commissary and all store locations. This position also leads the company’s Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) programs — ensuring compliance, sustainability, and a safe environment for employees and customers alike.
Job Responsibilities
- Store & Facility Engineering
Lead preventive and corrective maintenance programs for all stores and the commissary.
Oversee all equipment, utilities, and facility operations to ensure efficiency and reliability.Manage engineering projects, renovations, and store fit-outs to meet business needs.Supervise contractors, suppliers, and service providers for quality, compliance, and cost control.Implement and optimize a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for asset tracking and preventive scheduling.Monitor maintenance tickets, budgets, and engineering KPIs across all sites.Conduct regular site inspections and ensure safety and operational standards are met.Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)Develop and implement company-wide HSE policies and programs .
Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.Investigate incidents and implement corrective measures.Lead sustainability initiatives — focusing on energy efficiency, waste reduction, and environmental impact.Leadership & StrategyLead and mentor a multi-site team of engineers, safety officers, and maintenance personnel.
Align engineering and HSE strategies with overall business goals.Report regularly to management on performance, projects, and risk mitigation.Build a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement .Job Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or Occupational Health & Safety10+ years of experience in engineering, maintenance, or HSE management; 5+ years in a senior leadership roleProven success managing multi-site facilities (preferably restaurants, retail, or healthcare)Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing systems, and safety regulationsExperienced in budgeting, project management, and vendor managementProficient in Microsoft Office and CMMS toolsExcellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skillsResults-driven, detail-oriented, and adaptable, able to lead operations even on weekends or holidaysJob Details
