Our client, a growing multistate physical therapy team, is seeking a highly detail-oriented Insurance Verification Specialist to support patient intake, benefits verification, and communication workflows across multiple clinic locations. This role requires accuracy, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage insurance-related tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment. You will play a crucial part in ensuring patients receive the care they need by providing clear, timely insurance information to both patients and clinical teams.
Responsibilities
Insurance Verification & Benefits Processing
Verify patient insurance coverage for physical therapy services across multiple states.
Enter insurance benefit information into the clinic’s EMR system with accuracy and attention to detail.
Update patient files with all insurance and eligibility information obtained during verification.
Obtain pre-authorizations for procedures when required.
Track and follow up on pending insurance claims or authorizations.
Liaise with insurance providers to clarify coverage, co-pays, deductibles, limitations, and eligibility.
Assist patients who have questions regarding their insurance benefits or coverage details.
Patient & Clinic Communication
Communicate benefit information clearly to clinics and administrative staff.
Respond to clinic inquiries regarding patient insurance coverage and verification results.
Support clinics as needed if they have questions or need clarification about benefit details.
Maintain professional, friendly communication via email and phone.
Administrative Support
Type and upload patient forms into the EMR system (Raintree).
Maintain accurate, organized electronic records for all insurance-related tasks.
Assist in streamlining insurance verification processes and identifying areas for improvement.
Participate in weekly team meetings, monthly check-ins, and training sessions as required.
Requirements
Experience in medical insurance verification, insurance coordination, or similar administrative support role.
Strong knowledge of medical insurance terminology and benefit structures (co-pays, deductibles, prior auths, coverage rules).
Experience working with EMR systems (Raintree experience preferred but not required).
Ability to interpret benefit information and communicate it clearly to staff and patients.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple verifications daily, and meet deadlines.
Comfortable working with U.S.-based healthcare teams and adapting to evolving workflows.

Requirements
Previous experience in a medical administrative role (medical assistant, medical receptionist, or similar) is preferred. Familiarity with WebPT EMR and Therabill for patient payment posting is a plus. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. High level of professionalism and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality. Comfortable with remote work and proficient in using virtual communication tools. Knowledge of insurance verification and pre-authorizations is a plus. Ability to work collaboratively with a team and contribute to a positive patient experience.
