The Brooding Farm Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the brooding houses to ensure proper growth, health, and welfare of chicks during the brooding stage. This role requires strong knowledge in poultry management, biosecurity, and farm operations, with the goal of achieving optimal performance, high survival rates, and cost efficiency.
Responsibilities :
- Supervise daily brooding operations including chick placement, feeding, watering, and temperature management.
- Monitor flock health and implement vaccination, medication, and biosecurity programs.
- Develop and execute effective brooding strategies to optimize chick growth, ensuring achievement of weight targets within specified timeframes.
- Maintain accurate records of mortality, feed consumption, growth performance, and production reports.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of farm equipment (feeders, drinkers, heating systems, ventilation, etc.).
- Train, supervise, and evaluate farm workers assigned in brooding operations.
- Coordinate with veterinarians, nutritionists, and suppliers for farm needs.
- Implement strict biosecurity measures and ensure compliance with company and government regulations.
- Control inventory of feeds, medicines, and farm supplies.
- Conduct regular inspections to maintain cleanliness, safety, and welfare standards in the brooding area.
- Prepare periodic reports on flock performance, mortality, and operational challenges.
- Monitor and address issues affecting social relationships and teamwork among farm personnel, ensuring timely coordination and reporting to top management for appropriate action.
Job Requirements :
Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Agriculture, Veterinary Medicine, or related field (preferred).At least 2-3 years of experience in poultry brooding or farm management.Strong knowledge of poultry health, nutrition, and biosecurity practices.Leadership and supervisory skills to manage farm staff effectively.Good problem-solving and decision-making abilities.Computer literacy for record-keeping and reporting.Physically fit and willing to stay / live on the farm, if required.Skills Required :
