Job Summary
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will oversee the day-to-day operations of the construction company, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards. This role works closely with the CEO and executive team to translate business strategy into operational excellence, driving growth, profitability, and client satisfaction across all construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Operational Leadership
- Collaborate with the CEO in developing and implementing the company’s strategic plans.
- Oversee all construction operations, from pre-construction planning to project completion and handover.
- Ensure operational efficiency, cost control, and adherence to project timelines.
Project Oversight
Supervise project managers and ensure proper resource allocation for each project.Monitor construction progress and address operational challenges promptly.Enforce compliance with contracts, specifications, safety regulations, and building codes.Financial & Resource Management
Work with the CFO to prepare budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.Monitor project costs and profitability; implement cost-control measures.Oversee procurement processes to ensure timely and cost-effective sourcing of materials and services.Team Leadership & Development
Build and lead high-performing teams across operations, engineering, and project management.Mentor department heads and project managers to improve performance and accountability.Promote a safety-first culture and continuous professional development.Risk Management & Compliance
Identify potential operational, contractual, and safety risks, and implement mitigation strategies.Ensure all operations meet legal, environmental, and safety regulations.Oversee quality assurance programs to maintain high construction standards.Client & Stakeholder Relations
Maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, contractors, and regulatory agencies.Address client concerns and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.Qualifications :
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (Master’s / MBA preferred).At least 10 years of senior leadership experience in the construction industry.Proven track record in managing large-scale projects from planning to completion.Skills & Competencies
Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills.Excellent knowledge of construction processes, building codes, and safety regulations.Proficient in project management software and tools.Strong financial and commercial acumen.Ability to manage multiple projects and teams simultaneously.Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
