Verizon Console Operator

Title : Verizon Console Operator (fully work-from-home role) Core Function Perform Production Control duties per documented processes and procedures.

This includes a working knowledge of customer hardware and ability to interact, troubleshoot issues and work independently.

Provide Tier-1 hardware and application support.

Work directly with vendors and customers for the support of Mainframe software.

Must have exceptionally good knowledge of MVS systems processing monitoring and recovery.

Must have exceptionally good knowledge of MVS, SPOC, Service Now, CICS, JES, IMS, DB2, TSO / ISPF, SDSF and associated utilities.

Monitor MVS and UNIX environments and respond to alerts.

Ability to analyze problems / situations and assist in the escalation and resolution.

Identify and report exceptions and work with support or the customer for a permanent solution.  Monitor and execute batch processing on multiple OS platforms using line commands, menus, and GUI interfaces.  Perform file system restores.

Execute backups and scheduling tasks using CA-Scheduler.

Performed Disaster Recovery testing for all our business units, on an annual basis.

Work on Mainframe network and application issues in a Help Desk and a data center environment.

Maintain AS400 hardware, software, network connectivity.

Manage Hardware and Software maintenance for System i and HMC, including Fix Packages, Software Upgrades, and Hardware Upgrades for both OS and 3rd Party Applications.

Identify, diagnose, and resolve equipment and line faults by referring issues to vendors or implementing back-up and recovery processes.

Able to work independently.

Must possess excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
